School of Music

Graduate Advising

Welcome

This is a central location where you can find some advising information to assist you in selecting courses and planning your degree progress. As always, your friendly advisors are at the ready, willing to assist you as needed. You may email simple questions or registration requests (remember to include your UFID), or make an appointment to see us. New students will be required to see an advisor in person for registration their first semester.

Your Advisor
Graduate advisors in the school of music can be very helpful to you. Their primary role is to assist you in choosing appropriate courses to assure that you graduate on time. They can also register you for classes. In addition, Dr. Odom can help you with transferring previous graduate credit to your UF degree, and can write letters on your behalf should we have problems with your registration.

You may interact with your advisor in a variety of ways: face-to-face appointments, email, and by phone. Simple requests are best handled via email, while more complicated interactions should be conducted on the phone or in person. Please always include your UFID in any correspondence with your advisor.

Master's students will be advised by Dr. Jonathan Helton
Doctoral students will be advised by Dr. Chuck Pickeral.

See the links to the left for program requirements, registration dates, and other resources.

Let us know if there is other information you would like to see on these pages.

Thanks!

Dr. Pickeral and Dr. Helton
