In this unique program, UFSO celebrates the UF School of Music in four distinct ways: with the East Coast premiere of UF Professor of Composition Scott Lee’s 2022 work “The Fire Beneath”; “star/ghost/mouth/sea,” the winner of the 2023 UF Call for Scores by women composers and part of the Women in Music initiative curated by UF doctoral student Jane Kozhenikova; the UFSO “People’s Choice” selection Danse Macabre; and a remarkable tour de force of Hsiang Tu’s UFSO debut as concerto soloist with the UFSO. ARUTIUNIAN - Trumpet Concerto in A-flat Major, featuring Harold Villalta Matamoros

GINASTERA - Four Dances from Estancia, Op. 8a

This colorful, short program features the Graduate winner of the 2023 UF Concerto Competition, Harold Villalta Matamoros, along with two wildly colorful orchestral suites that demonstrate the range and virtuosity of the orchestra.
