Arts in Medicine Professional Development Residency

Professional artists who work in healthcare settings are invited to participate in an intensive five-day clinical practice residency with the UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine Program through the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine.

The Professional Development Residency will engage experienced healthcare-based artists in bedside practice, creative exchange, and innovation in clinical practice. Participants will immerse in daily clinical practice with senior artists in residence at UF Health Shands Hospital and UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital, and in in-depth explorations of practice through clinical artists rounds and other interactive forums. Participants can focus in one artistic discipline or explore multiple disciplines.

The Professional Development Residency for healthcare artists includes:

  • Daily bedside practice at UF Health Shands Hospital and the UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital with senior-level artists in residence in the UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine program
  • Exploration and deepening of clinical practice through Clinical Artists Rounds and daily reflection sessions
  • Leadership Luncheon: consultation with UF Health Shands Arts in Medicine program leaders
  • Certificate of Completion

Acceptance Criteria:

The Professional Development Residency accepts professional healthcare-based artists whose work and career is at a level that would benefit from advanced professional exchange. Artists must have a minimum of two years of professional experience as a hospital-based artist. In some cases, applicable community-based practice will be acceptable.

Program Cost:

The program fee of $1,685 includes:

  • The five-day residency as described above
  • Five nights (arrive Sunday, depart Friday) at the Camellia Rose Inn Bed and Breakfast, including continental breakfast www.camelliaroseinn.com
