School of Music 90th Anniversary

The University of Florida has a rich history of music. Beginning with the Pride of the Sunshine Gator Marching Band in 1913, a multitude of ensembles and generations of talented students have brought music to the UF campus for over a century. The official music program was founded in 1927, and the director coordinated performance activities that included the Gator Marching Band and Men’s Glee Club, which was formed two years earlier in 1925.

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of UF School of Music, twelve UF performing ensembles came together in the school's first-ever Collage Concert on February 17, 2018, to display the high caliber talent of UF's students and faculty. The production also featured video vignettes of remarks from past and present School of Music faculty reflecting upon the rich history—and also future—of music at UF. Watch the video above to enjoy their remarks.

As the School of Music reflected on its history, past and present faculty members shared their photos over the years. Watch the slideshow of historic photos here

The celebration included a pre-concert reception that welcomed faculty and alumni of the School of Music. View the photos from the reception here
