To attain the Jazz Minor a passing grade of B or better is required of all courses listed in the Jazz Minor.

Minor in Jazz Studies (Minor)

In order to pursue the Jazz Minor students must pass the Jazz Theory Proficiency Exam with a grade of B or higher. Students who receive a grade of B- or below will be permitted the option to study suggested materials and re-take the Jazz Theory Proficiency Exam in the following semester. Students will be allowed only one attempt per semester to take and pass the jazz Theory Proficiency Exam.

A passing grade of B is required for all courses listed in the jazz minor if these courses are to count towards the UF Jazz Minor. If a student does not achieve a B or higher in any course of the minor after two attempts he/she will no longer be eligible for the minor.

Students at UF may take Jazz Band at any time upon completion of a successful audition.

REGULATIONS

  • ALL STUDENTS MUST TAKE THE THEORY PLACEMENT EXAM BEFORE BEGINNING THEIR MINOR.
  • A TOTAL OF 12 OF THE HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.
  • ALL COURSES MUST BE COMPLETED WITH A "C" OR BETTER (NO S/U).
  • COURSES WITH A 4905 NUMBER WILL NOT APPLY TO THE MINORS IN MUSIC PERFORMANCE.
  • THE STUDENT MUST SEE THE UNDERGRADUATE ADVISOR IN THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC BEFORE ENROLLING FOR COURSEWORK.

THE STUDENT MUST FILL OUT THE "APPLICATION FOR MINOR" WITH THE REGISTRAR AFTER BEING ACCEPTED INTO HIS OR HER COLLEGE.
