Graduate Advising
Welcome to the Graduate Advising page for the School of Art and Art History at the University of Florida. We hope these resources help answer your questions and support your academic journey. The Graduate Student Handbook includes important details on registration, committee selection, course requirements and university resources.
Registration Advising
Advising for registration takes place around the middle of each semester. You’ll receive a registration window with the date you can officially enroll, but planning begins before that.
- All students are required to meet with their advisor to discuss plans for the upcoming semester and beyond.
- Use the degree planning form to track advising meetings and other required steps.
Course Planning
Before your advising meeting, review the Schedule of Courses and come prepared with a draft plan. Once your advisor approves your schedule, it will be entered by graduate coordinator Patrick Grigsby (saahgradoffice@arts.ufl.edu).
Internships
Internships must be approved in advance.
- F-1/J-1 international students may not begin any internship—paid or unpaid—until the CPT process is initiated and approved through the UF International Center.
- This applies to part-time, full-time, on-campus and off-campus placements.
