Associate Professor Welson Tremura from the School of Music met with Brazil’s new ambassador, Adalnio Senna Ganem, this week in Miami to discuss potential collaborations between the University of Florida and Brazil.
The meeting also included Brazil’s Deputy Consul Lucas Chalella das Neves and UF Center for Latin American Studies Associate Director Mary Risner.
Ambassador Ganem and Deputy Consul Neves gave over an hour of their time to talk about future projects at UF and throughout the state of Florida. Tremura said that Ambassador Ganem showed a great interest in getting to know UF better.
Tremura and Risner hope to plan future events, such as meetings and talks, for Ambassador Ganem to meet with UF President Kent Fuchs as well as UF students and faculty from across campus.
Tremura and Risner believe this week’s meeting will help bring the University, South Florida and Brazil even closer together.
