Percussion students and alumni from the University of Florida School of Music took part in the first ever UF Drumming in Havana program in April and May of 2017. Led by Dr. Kenneth Broadway, professor of music at UF, the students studied with Cuban master percussionists Hector Alonso and Benicio Lezcano. The group also toured cultural and historic sites in Havana and attended performances by traditional Cuban ensembles (even getting to "sit in" with these artists on several occasions).
This program will be offered again in 2018.
