UF guitar professor performs in Germany

Guitar Professor Ulisses Rocha from the School of Music recently traveled to Germany for a 10-day tour where he performed seven concerts and one workshop. During this trip he performed in Abstadt, Weingarten, Birkenried, Rottemburg, Groebenzel (Munich area), Freiburg and Laufenburg. In addition to the concerts, he gave a 50-minute radio program for a Brazilian radio in Frieburg where he discussed his work at UF.

The following article was submitted by a journalist from an internet publication, Kult Komplatt, after one of the concerts:

"He [Rocha] uses in his musical narrative different styles and forms of expression and uses his instrument as a satisfactory mediator between sonic craftsmanship and human longing. One senses in his playing the bossa nova and samba, the elegance of the classical and the Wicked of rock'n'roll. He has this "Balancado", the Brazilian word for swing and lots of rhythmic fire. Much of his own compositions are interwoven with graceful melodies, as clear as spring water…This concert was a little gem…It was the beauty of the moment that will have an impact…for a long time." -Jörg Konrad
