UF Carillon students attend annual congress in Illinois

Members of the UF carillon studio accompanied associate professor Laura Ellis to the annual congress of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA) on June 4-8. This year's congress was held at the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Springfield, Illinois. As a recent recipient of the GCNA's Barnes Scholarship, Mitchell Stecker (BM '14) presented a lecture titled Das Glockenbüchlein: An Exploration of Roy Hamlin Johnson's Carillon Book for the Liturgical Year, its genesis, music, and relation to J.S. Bach's Orgelbüchlein.

Carillon studio members also visited and played the carillon at Principia College in Elsah, Illinois.
