Trumpeter Randolph Lee makes South American debut

UF Assistant Professor of Trumpet Randolph Lee made his South American performance debut August 17 at the Universidad de los Andes (Uniandes) in Bogota, Colombia. Collaborating with Colombian pianist and composer Mauricio Arias, they performed the trumpet music of Arias as well contributions from Lee and Rafael Mendez. The recital consisted of Arias’s La Guanena (which was written for Lee and premiered in 2016), Angels, a Rafael Mendez arrangement of Tico Tico, the world priemere of Lee’s American Carnival and Arias’s piano reduction of Rapsodia Camaleónica.

In addition to this performance, Lee taught lessons and presented masterclasses at the Uniandes, Academia Colombia de Trompeta, and the brass ensemble of the Fundation Orquesta Sinfonica de Bogota.
