School of Theatre + Dance Associate Professor Tiza Garland performed in a one-act at the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival in Provincetown, Massachusetts, Sept 24-27, 2014. The one-act, Yaws, written by Randall Rapstine, is based on a short story written by Tennessee Williams, Mother Yaws.
The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival invited audiences and artists from around the world to come celebrate those friendships, with eye-opening productions of plays by Williams alongside those of his contemporaries. The festival also included new works inspired by Williams' writings. The mission of the festival is to honor Tennessee Williams by presenting his classic and undiscovered plays, the work of his peers and new work inspired by Williams’ creative vision worldwide.
The festival and the Tennessee Williams Institute provided the opportunity for Tennessee Williams scholars Thomas Keith, Annette Saddick and Michael Paller to see performances and provide feedback to Rapstine as he continues development on the script for Yaws.
