Professor Mitchell Estrin becomes president of the International Clarinet Association

On September 1, School of Music Professor of Clarinet Mitchell Estrin became the 20th president in the history of the International Clarinet Association (ICA). The ICA is the world’s largest organization of clarinet performers, educators, students, enthusiasts and music industry members.

Founded in 1973, the ICA hosts the annual ClarinetFest, an international conference that attracts thousands of attendees, and publishes The Clarinet, a quarterly refereed journal that features the scholarly research of clarinetists worldwide. The ICA holds five annual international competitions: Young Artist, High School, Orchestra, Research, and Composition.

Estrin will administrate all ICA governance, fiscal, policy, educational, staff and editorial board matters, and chair the board of directors.
