SOM emeritus professor presents first music education scholarship

Dr. Robinson presented scholarship at the high school where his music teaching career began

UF Emeritus Professor of Music Education Russell Robinson and his wife, Brenda, presented the first annual Russell Robinson Music Education Scholarship to Emily Sink, a senior at Cassville MO High School on April 9, 2018.

The presentation was preceded by a choral concert of Robinson's music. Robinson taught music in Cassville from 1974-1981. Many of his former students were in attendance, and a reception followed.

"I really learned how to teach music in Cassville," he said. "The entire community was so welcoming to me as a 22-year-old beginning teacher, and I wanted to give back and pay it forward and backward to the school where I began my teaching career. And, Brenda and I wanted to be there for the first award of this scholarship."

The annual scholarship will assist in funding future music educators from Cassville High School in their college education.
