Lisa Iglesias is an assistant professor in the University of Florida School of Art + Art History. She earned a 2016 Southeastern Conference (SEC) Travel Grant. This program grant promotes collaboration between SEC universities, by providing select faculty members with the funds they need to travel to other universities in order to exchange ideas, make proposals, conduct research and deliver lectures.
Iglesias visited the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa (UAT) where she spoke about her research, hosted a drawing workshop centered on collaboration and experimentation, and installed an exhibition of new work at a local gallery. Dessarae Basil, a fourth year drawing major at UF from the University Scholars Program, joined Iglesias on presenting the selection of collaborative drawings and research at UAT.
"My experience at the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa was very generative and community oriented,” Iglesias said. “Dessarae and I met exceptional makers and writers and shared our collaborative and individual research, connecting our campuses with ideas for future interactions.”
