Organ students went to Tampa on the studio’s semesterly Organ Crawl October 9-10, 2015. Students had the opportunity to play on diverse instruments and connect with the Tampa Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. The list of stops included an instrument with a functioning 90-year old blower (Sacred Heart Catholic), an instrument in the process of being refurbished and installed (Good Shepherd ELCA) and the Dobson at the University of Tampa. The students also explored the mechanics of each instrument by walking through pipe chambers and following tracker action from the keyboard to the pipe. Visiting a variety of organs helped the students hear their music differently and adapt to each instrument and space.
