Music education major and violist Nate Gross was one of sixteen music education majors from across the country selected as a participant in the 2019 Music Technology Leadership Academy held February 13-16, 2019 in San Antonio, TX during the TI:ME (Technology Institute for Music Education) National Conference, in conjunction with the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Conference. Through the support of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the Music Technology Leadership Academy (MTLA) provides a highly select group of music education students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in studying instructional strategies for using music technology to teach students in K-12 schools. Selected participants had their travel and lodging expenses covered to allow them to travel to San Antonio and participate in the MTLA, as well as attend sessions comprising the TI:ME and TMEA conferences. UF’s Area Head of Music Education, Dr. William I. Bauer, is a co-organizer and faculty member of the MTLA.
