School of Music alumnus named to The Diapason "20 under 30" class of 2019

Mitchell Stecker (BMUS BA '14) was recently named by The Diapason magazine to the "20 under 30" class of 2019. Stecker is currently Choir Director and Chapel Coordinator at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. His duties include serving as organist and carillonneur at events held in Summerall Chapel on The Citadel campus. 

Stecker earned a Bachelor of Music from the College of the Arts with a carillon concentration and a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He will graduate in May 2019 with a Master of Music in historical musicology, with a secondary concentration in sacred music. 

The Diapason, a monthly magazine serving those who build and play organs, recognizes young talents in the fields of organ and harpsichord performance, organ and harpsichord building, carillon, and church music. Twenty persons under the age of 30 are recognized for each year's class.
