Elias Lytton has always had an interest in pursuing art and started taking art classes on a whim at a university in Canada. Years later, Lytton is now pursing his MFA in painting at the University of Florida and currently has a piece being shown at the National Wet Paint MFA Biennial 2016 in Chicago. In addition to having his art chosen for such a prestigious show, Lytton was also selected for the Artwork Archive Award of Excellence. Lytton says the experience has been cool and exciting since as an artist you never know what people are going to respond to.
He describes the piece that was chosen for the show as a “dense, physical, oil painting that uses painting to describe the physicality of a place.” The painting is an abstract representation of landscape, he says.
Looking to his future, Lytton says, “I plan on pursuing painting for the rest of my life and will just keep working and improving my practice.”
