Lee and Arakawa go "old-school"

UF trumpet professor Dr. Randy Lee and piano professor Dr. Jasmin Arakawa performed at the Henry B. Plant Museum in Tampa as part of the lecture by Dr. George Foreman, musicology professor at the University of Georgia, titled “Music and D.H. Stubblebine.” This lecture was the first in a series of 2019 programs and events celebrating the 200th anniversary of Henry B. Plant’s birth. The lecture included the depth examination of D. H. Stubblebine, the orchestra leader at the Tampa Bay Hotel for its first five years, 1891-1896. The highlights of the event included a performance by Dr. Lee on the original 1870s Courtois cornet that had belonged to Stubblebine himself. Dr. Arakawa performed Tampa Bay Hotel Galop, a piano composition written for the grand opening of the hotel.
