Gators perform at Florida Flute Association Convention

A select group of nine students from the UF Flute Studio performed at the FFA Convention on a gala concert, shared with the University of Miami Flute Choir. The UF group performed Walls by Jorge Variego (PhD in Composition from UF), Cassation by Jindrich Feld, and the Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein, celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth. UF flute professor Dr. Kristen Stoner conducted the performance on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Stoner performed the FFA premiere of Paul Richards’s composition Entanglements, collaborating with Grammy-award winning pianist Allison Brewster Franzetti. Stoner was also featured on a Florida Flute Teachers’ Quartet performance of contemporary music by Ian Clarke and Nicole Chamberlain.
