The Gator Band Alumni Association graciously donated $12,000 to the Gator Band greatest needs fund. This contribution was more than just a monetary donation; it was a display of support for the Gator Band.
“We are once again very appreciative of the generous support from the Gator Band Alumni Association following another successful Alumni Band Weekend!” Jay Watkins, the director of the marching band, said. “It is support like this that allows us to continue to expand the outreach of the Band Program with recordings, tours and instrument purchases - things that would not be possible without this dedicated group of Alumni and Friends!"
On October 15, the Gator Band alumni came together at a festive tailgate that brought generations of UF’s musicians back to campus. The guests had the opportunity to play The Big Boom, a large drum used in marching band performances, to commemorate their time serving the school with their musical talents. This interactive feature of the tailgate created a lively atmosphere that the Gator Band alumni and their friends enjoyed.
