Four UF Symphonic Band students in the 2018 Florida Intercollegiate Band

The 2018 Intercollegiate Band performed at the Florida Music Educators Association Professional Development Conference in Tampa on Jan.12, under the director of Dr. Steve Peterson, Director of Bands at the University of Illinois.

Four members of the UF Symphonic Band were selected to perform with the ensemble, which included students from all College Band Directors National Association bands in Florida. UF students Zekiah Hemingway (flute), Daniel Lezcano (horn), Abby Mistretta (clarinet), and Ramona Shiwbaran (clarinet) only had a day and a half of rehearsals with the ensemble to put together the feature concert on Friday afternoon in the Tampa Convention Center.  

The repertoire included The Glory of the Yankee Navy by Sousa/Fennell, Flourishes and Meditations on a RenaissanceTheme by Michael Gandolfi, Evening Glow by Eric Nathan,
and Dance Movements by Phillip Sparke.
