On Saturday, September 29, members of the UF carillon studio took a field trip to Charleston and made stops at The Citadel and Grace Church Cathedral. While at The Citadel studio members performed on the 59-bell Paccard/van Bergen carillon adjacent to Summeral Chapel. Mitchell Stecker (BM '14), a former member of the carillon studio, was recently named Summeral Chapel Administrator. Stecker's duties at The Citadel include overseeing carillon activities.
On Sunday, September 30, the group viewed change ringing at Grace Church Cathedral. Grace contains 10 bells, eight of which were cast in 1883 and originally rang in St. Mary Magdalene Church, Enfield, Middlesex, England.
