Join the School of Art + Art History for a Visiting Artist Lecture with Roberto Lugo.
Free and open to the public.
Roberto Lugo is a potter, social activist, spoken word poet and educator. He is an Assistant Professor at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Lugo was named a 2017 United States Artist and a Peter S. Reed Foundation Fellow. Lugo's artwork can be found in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, MFA Boston as well as the High Museum of Atlanta. Lugo has given over 30 lectures as a visiting artist including Yale, Harvard and Penn State Universities. Lugo is the Director at Large for the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts and Board Member of Haystack Mountain School of Crafts where he created a fellowship to send students of color to take summer workshops free of charge.
Lugo, his wife Ashley and son Theodore live in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, where they spend most days making artwork in a shed behind their home.
