- Description
The University of Florida (UF) School of Theatre + Dance’s second summer production brings the 17th century world of comedy, romance and miscommunication to the Constans Theatre stage July 9-12 in Pierre Corneille’s The Liar. Adapted by David Ives and directed by Judith Williams, The Liar features Dorante, a charming young man newly arrived in Paris in 1643 who has one flaw… he cannot tell the truth. As luck would have it, Dorante meets Cliton, a manservant who cannot tell a lie. The two embark on an adventure that is met with several obstacles, from mistaking one woman for another to an arranged engagement. The mound of lies being told creates a wonderfully witty comedy.
Performances will be held in the Nadine M. McGuire Theatre and Dance Pavilion on UF’s campus at 7:30 p.m. July 9-11, 2015 and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Tickets range from $13 for students to $17. More information is available at www.arts.ufl.edu/calendar. Tickets are available through the University Box Office, by calling 352-392-1653 or at ticketmaster.com. Join the conversation online by using #TheLiarUF.
