At 2PM on Friday, October 28, three visionary WEB 3 artists and entrepreneurs will share their insights into how the confluence of Blockchain technologies, Extended Reality (XR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities for artists and creators in the early 21st century.
Scarlett Arana is a UF graduate and co-founder of the Miami blockchain start-up BitBasel. Over the past decade she has spearheaded community initiatives across the blockchain, XR, Space tech, and Ocean tech ecosystems, and is a SDG14 UN Ambassador. As a Latinx woman, Scarlett’s passion is educating young women about emerging technology and guiding them on a pathway towards success.
Jorge Cortez is an entrepreneur and South Florida’s technology ecosystem builder for many years. He was appointed to the first Miami Dade County Cryptocurrency Task Force in 2022 and has been advisor to startups and projects like the Blockchain Center Miami. He received the key to the City of Miami followed by the key to Miami-Dade County in 2017 for his achievements in building Miami’s innovation & tech ecosystem.
Scott Spiegel is founder and CEO of BitBasel and has been growing the Miami blockchain ecosystem since 2018 when he co-founded the Blockchain Center Miami, an educational hub in the heart of downtown. Scott is also the Miami community lead for the Florida Blockchain Business Association where he and his team has sponsored and passed three blockchain related bills in Tallahassee. Scott completed his undergraduate at Tulane University and has a master’s in finance from the University of Miami, where he helped set up the university’s first cryptocurrency club.
The event will be held in Digital Worlds Polymodal Immersive Classroom Theatre (PICT) in the Old Norman Gym at 2PM on Friday, October 28. This panel discussion is co-sponsored by the UF Blockchain Lab, Digital Worlds Institute, and the Future Reality MiDAS speaker series.
