- Description
Enjoy a night of the surreal at the Hipp Cinema with a film program organized by the curators of Surrealism at the Harn: A Centennial Celebration (on view at the Harn Museum of Art until June 2, 2024). In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Surrealism movement, we will screen a selection of short Surrealist films, including Germaine Dulac and Antonin Artaud’s The Seashell and the Clergyman (1928), Man Ray’s L’Étoile de mer (1928), Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí’s Un Chien Andalou (1929), Maya Deren’s Meshes of the Afternoon (1943), Joseph Cornell’s Rose Hobart (1936), and René Clair and Francis Picabia’s Entr’acte (1924). Together, such films demonstrate the long-lasting powers of Surrealist cinema, inviting us to marvel, dream, and revel in mystery.
