Walid Raad, artist, author and Associate Professor of Art, The Cooper Union, will discuss his project Scratching on things I could disavow (2007 - ), which examines new infrastructure for the visual arts alongside the geo-political, economic, social and military conflicts that consume the greater Middle East region. He will also address The Atlas Group (1989-2004), which he established in Beirut to preserve, study, and produce audio, visual, literary, and other documents that shed light on Lebanon’s history while creating his own fictional archive. His books include The Truth Will Be Known When The Last Witness Is Dead, My Neck Is Thinner Than A Hair, Let’s Be Honest, The Weather Helped, and Scratching on Things I Could Disavow.
