    On Monday, October 21, at 7:30 PM the Voice/Piano programs will host a guest artist recital in the School of Music Concert Hall Room 101. This free performance features soprano-piano duo Jeanie Darnell and Michael Baron, Professors of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University, who will perform an evening of art songs and arias from composers of the Romantic period to present. Drs. Darnell and Baron have performed recitals together at festivals and on the concert series of universities and conservatories throughout the United States, Europe, and South America since the fall of 2006. Repertoire to be performed includes Austrian Richard Strauss’s masterpiece, Vier Letzte Lieder, French Francis Poulenc’s colorful song set Fiançailles pour rire: Six melodies sur des poèmes de Louise de Vilmorin, selected arias by opera composers Giacomo Puccini and German Richard Wagner, the charming folk influenced Dos Canciones of Mexican composer Blas Galindo, and various American spiritual settings arranged by African-American composers Hall Johnson and Moses Hogan. The program’s duration is approximately an hour and a half with intermission.
