GRAMMY® & EMMY® Winning Professor's Recital - Music for Restoration

    On Friday, September 17th at 7:20 PM, Latin GRAMMY® Winner, Dr. José Valentino Ruiz, will be premiering several new musical works that address the state of our humanity amid COVID-19 as well as a plea for socio-dialogue that aims to bridge differences. Original compositions will range from singer-songwriter, funk, global jazz, contemporary classical, and spontaneous improvisations. Joining Dr. Ruiz is Scott Wilson (Director of Jazz Studies), Thaddaeus Bourne (Visiting Assistant Professor of Voice), Derris Lee (percussionist), and Nolan Staples (upright bassist and electric guitarist). Dr. Ruiz will perform as a vocalist, bassist, saxophonist, and flutist. Attendees are encouraged to dance, bring friends, and have fun!
