- Description
The region’s most significant early-summer festival of its kind, the Gator Chamber Music Institute is an intensive weeklong workshop that is open to a limited number of highlyqualified college and high school string players and pianists. Participants are coached by renowned faculty from the University of Florida and elsewhere as they immerse themselves in a complete major work from the standard repertoire in preparation for a festival-ending performance. Students also receive two individual lessons and have opportunities to perform in solo and ensemble masterclasses. Daily schedules include coachings and rehearsal time for ensembles, group sessions, time for individual practice, as well as unique interactive activities with faculty, such as sight-reading sessions and panel discussions exploring the history of chamber music and the special skills required to be a successful performer. The Institute will conclude with public concerts performed by faculty and student groups. Students will be housed on our attractive and safe campus within easy walking distance of the School of Music. Applications are accepted from individuals and pre-formed groups. Admission is by live or recorded audition.
