    Pastor Gerard Duncan joins us as the inaugural speaker for the Codesigning Equitable Futures Speaker Series. A social entrepreneur and civic engagement advocate for children and families, Pastor Duncan will share his insights on how we might establish long-term, sustainable, and respectful collaborations.

    Gerard Duncan is Senior Pastor of Prayers By Faith Ministries in Gainesville and President of Innovative Dads, Inc. He has been instrumental in developing and organizing programs for fathers, at-risk youth and their families, and incarcerated men with the goal of revitalizing communities, creating opportunities for education and life enrichment, and achieving measurable outcomes for sustainability. Pastor Duncan is a member of the Governor’s Faith-based State Community Advisory Board, the United Way of North Central, FL, and a past Chair of the Family/Jobs Committee Gainesville4All. In addition, he is a member of UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Advisory Committee, the UF Strategic Jury Award Committee, City of Gainesville Strategic Planning Committee, the Department of Juvenile Justice Faith Network, Santa Fe College Community Advisory Board, and the Gainesville Thrives Board. 

    About Codesigning Equitable Futures
    This project, which includes this speaker series as well as other emerging collaborative efforts, is an opportunity to connect with and contribute to a newly forming vibrant community-oriented towards reshaping community and university relationships to increase reciprocity—something we know that we as a university need to consistently work on. It was founded in summer 2020 by Professors Laura Gonzales, Dori Griffin, and Maria Rogal with funding by the Center for the Arts, Migration, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Florida.
