As a part of the Consulate General of Brazil in Miami's 2018 Cultural Season "A Journey Through Brazilian Experiences"

Founded and organized by Dr. Welson Tremura in 2001, the University of Florida’s Brazilian Music Institute is sponsored by the College of the Arts, Center for Latin American Studies, School of Music, and Center for World Arts. The Brazilian Music Institute brings in world-class performing musicians from Brazil and the USA to the University of Florida campus for a one-week intensive series of master classes, rehearsals, outreach activities, and public performances involving students, faculty, and community artists.  Through daily rehearsals, group lessons, and lectures, the goal of the Brazilian Music Institute is to provide students and faculty artists as well as K-12 teachers distinctive musical training and an artistic vision of Brazil’s dynamic musical culture. The Institute allows musicians and guest artists to explore and expand personal relations to create a challenging and exciting atmosphere to experience and learn about Brazilian musical practices and its diverse culture.
