- Description
University Towne Center is pleased to present Wakezone.
This solo exhibition explores elements of sculpture and collage through the work of Taylor Adams, a BFA Drawing candidate at the University of Florida.
Inspired by a passion for water athletics, Adams uses physical wakeboards as foundations for collage, creating surfaces for color and texture to interact. Adams collages media that she produces herself through the photoscanning of ink stains, textural paintings and line compositions constructed completely out of thread. Noting the ever-moving nature of water and its interactions with the hard lines and shapes of wakeboarding features, she implements a contrast of organic and geometric form within her work. Among a color palette of blues, purples and reds, swirling and rippling forms emerge and interact with geometric elements. Adams is largely inspired by the combination of controlled movements and bursts of action that compose the sport of wakeboarding and implements these motions throughout her process.
