Victoria R Gerson

Biography

Victoria is a Brazilian-American graphic designer born and raised in Miami, FL. She believes in the graphic designer's ability and responsibility to have a socially conscious design practice. Victoria received a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Florida, & a Master of Graphic Design from North Carolina State University. Her research while at NC State focused on using emerging technologies such as virtual reality and 3D environments for issues such as climate change and science education. Victoria was a Cynthia Woods Mitchell Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Houston for the 2020-2021 academic year, during that time she buildt a class on Design Activism, where students explore definitions and examples of design activism, historically and contemporarily, while learning design research methods and exploring their own role as an artist and/or designer in contemporary social issues. Victoria is now a Lecturer in Graphic Design at her alma mater, teaching juniors and seniors in Visualization + Creativity, and Visual Systems.
