Dr. Joana Hyatt earned her Ph.D. in Art Education from the University of North Texas, where she was awarded the Priddy Fellowship. Dr. Hyatt has been a K-16 art educator for over twenty years, teaching in Nevada, Oklahoma, and Texas. Her research interests and teaching emphasize arts-based research, narrative inquiry, performative critical pedagogy, critical theory, inquiry-based curriculum, and evaluation approaches. Dr. Hyatt has published in Art Education, The Journal of Social Theory in Art Education, Trends, and she will have a chapter featured in, P. Sameshima, B. White & A. Sinner (Eds.), Ma: Materiality in teaching and learning. Joana serves on the NAEA Research Commission - Professional Learning through Research Working Group as the Western Division Representative, and the Editorial Review Board for Art Education, The Journal of the National Art Education Association.
