Summer Dance Intensive (DAA 4920) / Overview

Summer Dance Intensive Course, DAA 4920

UF Summer Dance Intensive is a transformative intensive intended for pre-professional and professional dancers between the ages of 18 and above. The mission of dance at UF’s School of Theatre and Dance is to develop dancers with a wide range of technical skills and artistic sensibilities, preparing them for the vast range of performance, choreography, and learning opportunities available to them in today’s dance field.

This year, the Summer Dance Intensive investigates the profound impact that dance can have on the health and vitality of individuals and communities. Students will study the history and etiology of dance in healthcare, gaining an understanding of its evolving role in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through both theoretical and practical frameworks, students will examine how dance is utilized in various therapeutic contexts and explore innovative ways to adapt dance practices for diverse populations, including those with physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges.
