School of Art + Art History
Who are my advisors?

The Undergraduate Advisor for the SA+AH is Dana Myers. Dana advises all undergraduate art, art history, and graphic design students, and will remain your advisor even following your transition to campus.

Sarah Joy is the Undergraduate Admissions and Advising Assistant. Let Sarah know what questions or concerns you have and she can help you herself or direct you to the advisor, or other UF offices as necessary.

What is the PaCE program?

The UF Pathway to Campus Enrollment (UF PaCE) provides additional opportunities for UF to offer admission to qualified freshman applicants with considerable academic potential and demonstrated scholastic success. PaCE students who are enrolled in an SA+AH major must follow the main requirements of the PaCE program: enrolling in UF Online as a degree-seeking student for at least two semesters, completing at least 15 credits of UF Online coursework, and earning a total of 60 credits before transitioning to being a full-time residential UF student.

You can read more about the PaCE requirements on UF’s PaCE website.

Which SA+AH majors are offered through the PaCE program?

All School of Art + Art History undergraduate majors are offered through the PaCE program:

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art with Art Education Certificate
  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Art
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design
I want to major in art; am I required to take courses on campus?

Yes. PaCE students majoring in Studio Art and Graphic Design are permitted, and required, to complete their studio coursework on campus. This special exception REQUIRES that these students live in Gainesville to successfully attend all in-person studio courses. All other coursework taken alongside studios will be completed online, consistent with the PaCE program requirements.

I want to major in art history; am I required to take courses on campus?

No. Art History majors are NOT required or permitted to take art history courses on campus prior to making their transition to campus. All coursework preceding your campus transition must be completed through UF Online in accordance with the traditional PACE guidelines.

Am I allowed to live on-campus as a PaCE student?

Even though our studio-related majors will be taking on-campus art studio coursework, PaCE students are not permitted to live on-campus. For assistance in learning about off-campus housing options, please contact an Off Campus Life staff member: https://housing.offcampus.ufl.edu/

How will I get to campus? Am I allowed to use the bus system?

There is an optional fee package available to PaCE students that includes use of the Gainesville RTS bus system, recreational facilities, and access to the Student Health Care Center and Counseling and Wellness Center (http://handbook.ufonline.ufl.edu/students/student-fees/). For all PaCE majors with required classes on campus we recommend that you invest in the optional fee package for access to those great resources.

Where will my art studio classes be held?

Our signature first-semester art studio course, the Workshop for Art Research and Practice (WARP), is held in a specialized off-campus studio facility called the WARPhaus. The WARPhaus is located just a few blocks off campus, at the intersection of SW 4th Avenue and SW 6th Street. Most subsequent art studio courses will be held in the Fine Arts buildings on the UF campus. The Fine Arts complex is located on the east edge of campus, right off of SW 13th St. Check it out on the campus map: https://campusmap.ufl.edu/#/index.

I’m not sure if the SA+AH is right for me. Can I take a tour?

For information on signing up for tours outside of these scheduled opportunities, please visit our website here: http://arts.ufl.edu/academics/art-and-art-history/request-information/.  You can also sign up for UF's Florida Days events, which include an opportunity to connect directly with us and tour some of our facilities.

Can I talk with a current SA+AH student?

Our student ambassador program includes students representing most majors in the school, and some of our ambassadors have even been PaCE students! Please feel free to contact any of our ambassadors for more information about their experience in the art, art history, and graphic design programs. Read more about them on our website: http://arts.ufl.edu/academics/art-and-art-history/ambassadors/profiles/.

I still have questions. Who can I talk to?
