A Little More Blue: Art, Nation, Exile, Brazil presents a series of lectures and master classes by internationally recognized Brazil-based scholars with a distinguished record of published scholarship on modern and contemporary art. The series takes its title from the eponymous song by Brazilian singer-songwriter Caetano Veloso, which he recorded during his in exile in England and in which he reflects on the emotional toll of his forced displacement on account of Brazil’s military dictatorship. In their research, each scholar addresses interconnections between political economy, aesthetics, representational systems, and material practices of everyday life in the study of Brazilian art and culture.
