Bachelor of Music in Music
The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) is a focused, intensive degree for students dedicated to pursuing music at the highest level. Designed for performers, composers, theorists and scholars, the B.M. offers deep training in your area of specialization, supported by rigorous academic study and individualized instruction.
You’ll study with acclaimed artist-faculty, engage in masterclasses and studio work and perform in UF’s many ensembles—from symphonic and chamber groups to jazz, choral and world music traditions. Whether your passion lies in performance, composition, or scholarship you’ll be challenged to grow as both an artist and a thinker.
As a B.M. student, you will:
- Specialize in your primary instrument, voice or composition
- Study advanced music theory, history and musicianship
- Participate in juries, recitals and competitive ensemble experiences
- Work closely with faculty mentors and visiting artists
- Prepare for graduate study, professional performance or careers in music-centered fields
