Bachelor of Arts in Music

The Bachelor of Arts in Music offers a comprehensive foundation in music while giving you the flexibility to explore your interests beyond the School of Music. Designed for students who want to combine their musical passions with other academic or career goals, the B.A. is an ideal choice for those seeking depth and breadth in their college experience.

This degree emphasizes versatility and personal growth. You’ll receive rigorous training in theory, history and performance, while having the freedom to take courses in other disciplines, pursue a minor or even complete a second major. B.A. students are active in UF’s many ensembles, benefit from private instruction with world-class faculty and engage in creative, academic and collaborative opportunities across campus.

As a B.A. student, you will:

  • Build core skills in music theory, history and performance
  • Participate in chamber, choral, jazz and orchestral ensembles
  • Receive individualized instruction with dedicated artist-faculty
  • Customize your studies to fit your academic and professional goals
  • Prepare for a wide range of paths—graduate study, arts-related fields or interdisciplinary careers

This degree is for students who see music as part of a bigger picture—and want the freedom to design a college experience as dynamic and multifaceted as their interests.
