The graduate certificate in museum studies is a 12-credit program open to students in any UF graduate degree program. Designed for those who wish to engage with museums through research, teaching, or practice, this certificate provides foundational experience in the history, theory, and operations of cultural institutions.
Whether you’re pursuing work in public humanities, planning exhibitions, or strengthening your qualifications for museum collaboration, the certificate supports your goals with both academic and applied learning.
The program includes:
- ARH 6938, Introduction to Museum Studies (3 credits)
- Two seminars in Museum Studies or a related field (6 credits)
- 120-hour internship (3 credits)
Students leave with expanded expertise, hands-on experience and the ability to integrate museum practice into their disciplinary or professional field.

(Paid and unpaid/volunteer, part-time and full-time, on-campus and off-campus positions all require formal advance approval.)
