The Arts in Health Research Primer is a comprehensive three-and-a-half-day, in-person program developed by the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine in collaboration with University College London’s Social Biobehavioural Research Group. The 2026 Arts in Health Research Primer has been extended by one day to include expanded content and new sessions, reflecting participant feedback and continued growth in the field. This immersive experience offers a robust foundation in the core skills and methodologies of arts in health research. Designed for learners at all levels, including those new to research, the program integrates hands-on learning with expert instruction, making it an excellent starting point for anyone looking to explore or enhance their research skills in the dynamic and evolving field of Arts in Health. 

What to Expect

This course is ideal for individuals new to research. Whether you’re an arts in health practitioner, artist, healthcare provider, community worker, social worker, policymaker, or just curious about the field, this program offers a welcoming, beginner-friendly introduction to arts in health research. Connect with others and build foundational skills alongside a diverse, supportive group!

By the end of the Arts in Health Research Primer, participants will be able to:

Apply basic research skills related to their work and research interests.

Identify at least three measurement approaches in arts in health research across medical, public health, and community domains.

Define basic research terminology in the context of arts in health research.

Define at least three research methods commonly used in arts in health research.

Identify essential skill sets required for conducting arts in health research.

Describe ethical considerations when conducting research with human subjects.

Arts in Health Research Primer Scholarships

We are pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships. Scholarshipsare open for regular-priced registration. Apply here to receive $300 off your full price registration! Scholarship deadline: December 5. Applicants will be notified of the results by 5pm on December 12th.
