Earning a master’s degree or graduate certificate with the UF Center for Arts in Medicine distinguishes you as a credentialed arts in health professional, infusing your career with the science of creativity. Develop creative skills, programs and arts-based research approaches that apply to a wide range of sectors, including medicine, public health, arts and culture, education, community development, social work, corporate training and more!
Artists, administrators, educators, creatives, clinicians and others looking to improve individual and collective health and wellness the the power of the arts are encouraged to apply!
All tracks teach arts and health history, theory, practice and professionalism in the field. Our faculty are industry experts and teach using the latest arts-based qualitative and quantitative evidence and program models around the world. Together, you’ll design, implement and evaluate intentional arts programs that foster connection and health in your community.

Who Can Apply?
- Anyone who has completed a regionally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) can apply!
- Students in our program have held degrees in the arts, humanities, business, education, social work, public health, nursing, medicine, mental health, or related fields. Any degree is acceptable for those with strong creative proficiency.
- Our students represent a broad range of diverse perspectives and backgrounds. They join us during all stages of their careers, from beginning their undergraduate degree at UF to reentering the workforce after retirement. Artists, innovators, leaders and lifelong learners interested study with us to bring the restorative power of the arts into their careers and communities.

What is arts in health?
Arts in health, also referred to as arts in medicine, is a field dedicated to supporting and enhancing health through creative experiences. This field integrates literary, performing, visual arts and design into healthcare and public health contexts. Research indicates that the integration of the arts into our health systems can improve both individual- and population-level health measures and outcomes.
What is the cost of tuition?
Online Master of Arts (M.A.) in Arts in Medicine
- $660 per credit hour
- $23,100* across 5 or more semesters

Online Graduate Certificate (GC) in Arts in Medicine
- $660 per credit hour
- $7,920* across 3 or more semesters

Is financial aid available?
Federal financial aid is available at the University of Florida for Master’s students only. Please visit FAFSA.gov to apply for federal financial aid as early as possible. Graduate Certificate students do not qualify for federal financial aid. Students must apply/ update their FAFSA applications every year.
What graduate certificates and degrees are available?
We offer a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Arts in Medicine, as well as two Graduate Certificate (GC) tracks: Arts in Medicine or Arts in Public Health. Are you accepting applications?
Applications are accepted at all times for our Fall (August) and Spring (January) starting cohorts. We have two early deadlines and two final deadlines each year. Visit the How to Apply page to learn more and review each step to see the latest deadlines.
Can I complete the program part-time?
Yes, you can complete the program on a schedule that meets your needs. Our core courses are subdivided into 8-week half-terms so you can easily take one class at a time and still finish 6 credit hours every 16-week semester.
Please be advised that MA students using federal financial aid should always consult their financial aid advisor before choosing their course schedule to ensure the satisfaction of any particular credit-hour requirements for financial aid.
