Yae-na Lee

Yae-na Lee is a first-year M.A. student studying modern and contemporary Korean art with Dr. Douglas Gabriel. She is interested in avant-garde practices in South and North Korea under authoritarian regimes during the Cold War. Yae-na completed her B.A. in Art Theory with a minor in Multimedia at the Korea National University of Arts in 2024. Her bachelor’s thesis examined the Fourth Group, a South Korean art collective that performed happenings in public spaces across Seoul in 1970. Her current research focuses on textile works produced by a South Korean woman artist and North Korean artisans.
