Mutlu G. Çitim serves as Director of Music Admissions and Undergraduate Student Services at the University of Florida School of Music, where she has worked since 2000. She previously served as Coordinator of Admissions and Registration in the Office of the University Registrar. Mutlu holds a B.A. in International Human Relations and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida, as well as a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from Cornell University.
A dedicated advocate for student success, Mutlu specializes in admissions and recruitment, retention, conflict resolution, and faculty-student relations. Each fall, she travels throughout Florida to visit high schools and attend college fairs, helping prospective arts students navigate the college admissions and audition process.
Mutlu has played a significant role in expanding international and student engagement opportunities at the School of Music. In 2003, she created the first study abroad program specifically designed for music students in Salzburg, Austria. The program began with private music lessons and music history courses and later expanded to include offerings in political science, history, and business, becoming a multidisciplinary cultural experience for students across the University of Florida. After a pandemic-related pause, the program resumed in 2022.
In 2013, Mutlu established the School of Music Ambassador (SOMA) program, which has become an integral part of the school’s recruitment and retention efforts. SOMAs support audition days and recruitment events, serve as student hosts, assist with School of Music activities, and help strengthen connections between current students, alumni, and the school.
Mutlu’s contributions to academic advising and student support have been widely recognized. In 2015, she received both the college-level and university-wide University of Florida awards for excellence, innovation, and effectiveness in undergraduate advising. In 2016, she was honored by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) with an Outstanding Advising Award in the Primary Advising Role category.
An experienced speaker and advocate for prospective students, Mutlu is frequently invited to participate in college fairs and panels, where she shares her expertise on the admissions process, college preparation, and what students can expect from the college audition experience.
