Lindsay Carlton is a visual artist working in photography, video performance and installation. Her practice investigates the monstrous feminine as both a cinematic archetype and a political spectacle by remixing elements of idealized feminine beauty with abjection and humor. Through these juxtapositions, she critiques contemporary culture and the taboos surrounding the female body, drawing from horror aesthetics, feminist theory, and internet culture to construct disorienting and experimental works.

Carlton’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at Woman Made Gallery (Chicago, IL), Art Center Sarasota (Sarasota, FL), and Laboratorio Artístico (Cosenza, Italy). Carlton holds an MFA from the University of Florida and she is currently an adjunct assistant professor at Santa Fe College and adjunct faculty at the University of Florida while being the Artist in Residence for 4Most Gallery.
