Heather Spooner

Heather Spooner (she/her) is the Clinical Lead for Telehealth and Disaster Response for the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine in support of Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network. Through this role, she supports Creative Forces’ efforts to explore how its existing partnerships with military, Veteran Health Administration (VHA) and national, state and local community arts networks can support military, veteran, and civilian populations impacted by natural disasters and national emergencies.
Heather divides her time between Creative Forces and the University of Florida Center for Arts in Medicine, where she serves on the graduate faculty. She has applied the arts and health sciences to her work with people of all ages and in a variety of settings including healthcare facilities, museums, community outreach and the VHA, where she was part of the team that founded a network of rural veterans’ telehealth programs in 2014.
She is currently engaged in research related to the neurophysiological response to art therapy for Veterans with PTSD and manualization of an art therapy telehealth protocol.
