Edward White is a guitarist, educator, and scholar who teaches electric guitar and the contemporary pop ensemble at the University of Florida. A 2022 Global Music® Award winner for Mixed-Genre Album, he holds a Master’s degree in Music Education from UF and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from Florida State University.
His research interests include improvisation pedagogy, creativity, popular music, and educational technology, and his academic work is published in the Open Journal of Music Education and the Media Journal in Music Education. Across his teaching and scholarship, Edward is guided by the belief that music has the power to change lives—enhancing the social and cultural lives of students while serving as a profound medium of personal expression. He views meaningful collaboration as essential to genuine musical growth, and he encourages his students to strive for more and develop a musical identity of their own.
An active performer, Edward has appeared as a guest artist at the 2025 Tampa Jazz Festival and the 2024 Uptown Music & Arts Festival, and he performs regularly throughout the southeastern United States in jazz and contemporary music. Believing that teaching the vernacular of contemporary music requires being an active participant in the world of music-making, he also works as a clinician, leading jazz band, small group, and improvisation workshops.
